Unfortunately, DoorDash does not accept EBT as a form of payment. DoorDash typically delivers food from local restaurants, and you cannot use EBT funds to purchase hot, prepared foods. They are just not a part of the USDA pilot program. [1]

Does DoorDash Accept EBT

It’s all food delivery service apps…

You can’t use EBT on the DoorDash platform or with similar food delivery apps such as Postmates, GrubHub, and UberEats. The hot food products prepared for immediate consumption or prepared food from restaurants are excluded from the USDA program.

Whenever you order food (not just food delivery), these same rules apply.

If it’s hot and/or prepared, it doesn’t qualify for EBT usage at all, not just through the DoorDash app.

However, since the rise of COVID-19 and contactless delivery, things have changed.

Here’s what DoorDash had to say in an interview with Business Insider:

“Due to contactless deliveries, Cash On Delivery is not currently offered as an option for payment on Marketplace and Drive orders,” a DoorDash spokesperson told Business Insider. Cash payments on Drive orders are suspended indefinitely.”

This may change once the pandemic winds down, but we’ll see.

Cash on Delivery does sound pretty convenient if you like to pay cash for food delivery 🙂

Can You Give DoorDash Cash Tips?

Yep! There is no rule or requirement that drivers receive tips through the DoorDash app directly, and a cash tip can actually work out in the Dasher’s favor by increasing the total amount they earn from your delivery. When you tip your Dasher using cash, DoorDash has no official record of it.

Even if you can’t do a cash payment for your whole order, they definitely accept cash for those tips.
